A simmering rivalry is on the horizon within the esteemed circles of New York City’s high society.

In the latest addition to Ryan Murphy’s anthology series, aptly named “Clash of Elegance: Capote versus the Elite,” the narrative revolves around Truman Capote’s inner sanctum of “elite ladies,” a term he coined to describe his affluent female confidantes. Drawing its inspiration from Laurence Leamer’s acclaimed bestseller “Capote’s Women: A True Chronicle of Love, Deception, and the Swan Song of an Era,” this limited series is the handiwork of the Tony and Pulitzer-nominated wordsmith and showrunner, Jon Robin Baitz, and Oscar-nominated director, Gus Van Sant.

Tom Hollander takes on the role of Capote, while Naomi Watts, Chloë Sevigny, Molly Ringwald, Demi Moore, Calista Flockhart, and Diane Lane step into the shoes of his closest companions. Capote’s infamous portrayal of their escapades comes to life from his renowned short story, “A Glimpse into the Upper East Side – 1965,” which was originally penned for Esquire magazine and eventually published in 1975. Capote’s ambition was to craft his dormant novel, “Whispered Desires,” and he eagerly drew from his circle of friends’ anecdotes and hidden intrigues.

Behind the scenes, the distinguished Brad Pitt’s Plan B takes the helm as executive producer alongside the brilliant creator of the series, Ryan Murphy. Returning to the fold from their previous involvement in “Rivalry: Bette and Joan” are Plan B’s luminaries, Dede Gardner, Tim Minear, and Alexis Martin Woodall, who continue to lend their expertise to ensure the series’ success. The series is scheduled for 2024 on F/X and will stream on Hulu.
