Unassuming from the outside, Dtox gives you a feeling of levitation from the moment you enter its spacious, tranquilly illuminated Zen haven.  The 6,000 square feet day spa that has a separate men’s and women’s quarter and a common lounging area is decorated artfully by Cary Mock (co-owner) so that the minimalism combined with exposed brick walls, 20-foot open beam ceiling and natural skylight calm the senses long before the treatments begin.

 

After changing into a robe and sandals and being treated to a welcoming nugget of Lindt chocolate, you can sip organic herbal tea and savor fresh fruit while spending some time in the atrium where a graceful golden Buddha poses between floor to ceiling waterfalls that fill the air with a narcotic calm.  By arriving early enough or making sure you’ve banished the Blackberry for the rest of the day, you can also take advantage of the sauna and steam.   

 

Slip into one of the six treatment rooms where Janette will wipe the years away with a Time Lift Peel Facial, a 5-phase treatment that includes cleansing, light exfoliation using a microcrystal cream and wand, glycolic peel for deeper exfoliation, extractions, and finally a facial contour mask that tightens and lifts the contours of your rejuvenated visage.  With the efficiency of Shiva, all this takes place along with a delightful hot lava stone arm massage that warms the spirits and eliminates the stresses we’ve clung to.

 

The menu of treatments is myriad and includes every kind of pampering from massages to manicures/pedicures, scrubs and wraps.  To accommodate busy schedules, the spa also offers an X-Press massage option for some lunch hour-nirvana and ideal for focusing on one area versus the whole body.  Friday night happy hour gives patrons an opportunity to try 20-minute treatments for under $40 or 3 treatments for under $100!
