KEIKO MECHERI

Tunisian Jasmine, Comores Vanilla flowers, Hawthorne blossms, Japanese grapefruit - these are only a few of the precious ingredients that go into some of the visually stunning and sophisticated perfumes from auteurs Keiko and Kamel Mecheri.

Consider their first creation, Loukhoum, already a classic and inspired by the birth of their son.  It includes the notes of Damask rose petal jam, white almond, honey and Hawthorne blossoms.    Or Granades, celebrating the original fruit of temptation, with notes of pomegranate rind, Bulgarian rose, angelica and wooden musk.  There is also Paname, a delicate elixir of sweet and bitter, green like absinthe and inspired by Paris.  The list of her scents reads like a journal on exotic lands where the senses are revived and brought to their peak. 

“We have endless discussions about everything from POP Art to medieval music, culinary arts to Japanese sumi painting, mythology and future travel destinations, French existentialism to the latest fashion trends; we get out our source of inspiration from everywhere to make the perfume be,” says Keiko.  “When the society is increasingly molded by brands, we choose to be the antithesis, to follow our own instincts and path…far from sterile focus groups and costly marketing strategies that are sure to bring nothing but already boring and insignificant perfumes.”
